# Build iOS Apps — Claude Code plugin
Build, refine, and debug iOS apps with Claude Code: design **App Intents** and App Shortcuts, build and refactor **SwiftUI** UI, adopt **iOS 26 Liquid Glass**, audit runtime performance, capture **ETTrace** profiles, investigate **memory leaks**, and drive the **iOS Simulator** through XcodeBuildMCP.
> Ported to Claude Code from OpenAI's [`build-ios-apps`](https://github.com/openai/plugins/tree/main/plugins/build-ios-apps) Codex plugin (MIT). See [Attribution](#attribution).
## Skills
| Skill | What it does |
| --- | --- |
| `ios-app-intents` | Design and implement App Intents, app entities, and App Shortcuts for Shortcuts, Siri, Spotlight, widgets, and controls. |
| `ios-debugger-agent` | Build, run, launch, and debug the current project on a booted simulator via XcodeBuildMCP — UI automation, on-screen state, logs, and screenshots. |
| `ios-ettrace-performance` | Capture and interpret symbolicated ETTrace launch/runtime flamegraphs for one focused flow. |
| `ios-memgraph-leaks` | Capture, compare, and root-cause memory-graph leaks with Apple's `leaks`/memgraph tooling, with before/after evidence. |
| `swiftui-liquid-glass` | Implement, refactor, or review SwiftUI using the iOS 26+ Liquid Glass API. |
| `swiftui-performance-audit` | Audit SwiftUI runtime performance from code review and architecture, and guide user-run Instruments profiling. |
| `swiftui-ui-patterns` | Example-driven SwiftUI patterns: navigation, layout, lists, sheets, grids, search, and more. |
| `swiftui-view-refactor` | Refactor SwiftUI views toward small dedicated subviews, MV-over-MVVM data flow, and correct Observation usage. |
Claude invokes a skill automatically when a request matches it, or you can call one explicitly — plugin skills are namespaced by plugin name, e.g. `/build-ios-apps:ios-debugger-agent`.
## Requirements
- **macOS with Xcode** and at least one iOS simulator runtime. The Liquid Glass skill targets **iOS 26+**.
- **Node.js / `npx`** — the bundled MCP server is launched with `npx -y xcodebuildmcp@latest`.
- Per-skill command-line tools, installed on demand:
- `ios-ettrace-performance` — [`ettrace`](https://github.com/EmergeTools/ETTrace): `brew install emergetools/homebrew-tap/ettrace`.
- `ios-memgraph-leaks` — Apple's `leaks` (included with the Xcode command-line tools).
## Install
```sh
/plugin marketplace add spokvulcan/claude-code-build-ios-apps
/plugin install build-ios-apps@spokvulcan-plugins
```
For local development without a marketplace, point Claude Code at a checkout:
```sh
claude --plugin-dir /path/to/claude-code-build-ios-apps
```
## Bundled MCP server
The plugin ships an `.mcp.json` that starts **XcodeBuildMCP** (the [`xcodebuildmcp`](https://www.npmjs.com/package/xcodebuildmcp) npm package) with the `simulator,ui-automation,debugging,logging` workflows enabled. It starts automatically when the plugin is enabled, and the `ios-debugger-agent` skill drives it. No global install is needed — `npx` fetches it on first run.
## Attribution
The skills, reference docs, and scripts in this repository are OpenAI's, from the
[`build-ios-apps`](https://github.com/openai/plugins/tree/main/plugins/build-ios-apps)
Codex plugin (MIT). This repository adapts that plugin to the Claude Code plugin
format: the `.claude-plugin/` manifest and marketplace, the bundled MCP config, and
rewiring helper-script paths to `${CLAUDE_PLUGIN_ROOT}`. The original Codex-only
surface metadata (`.codex-plugin/`, `agents/openai.yaml`) is not included.
