## Why this list
Literature review is one of the most time-consuming parts of research: retrieval, deduplication, in-depth reading, theme induction, citation verification...
Recently, many AI tools have emerged that can automate some (or all) of these steps, but they are scattered across GitHub, vary in quality, and have confusing names.
This list follows three principles:
1. **Categorized by use cases** — Come with a specific goal in mind, not searching through hundreds of repositories.
2. **Only strong and usable open-source projects** — Closed-source tools are listed separately for reference.
3. **Accurate information** — Star numbers are verified with GitHub API, and links are continuously checked with CI.
