CC Port is a local desktop resource manager for multiple AI coding tools. It scans the native directories of each tool, uses your private Git repository as a cross-device source of truth, and generates explicit operation plans before writing.
## At a Glance
| Resource Overview & Platform Status | Operation Plan | Settings & Diagnostics |
| --- | --- | --- |
| | | |
## What Problems Does It Solve
- **Scattered Configurations**: Skills, MCPs, Rules, Prompts, and Plugins are scattered across multiple tool directories, making it hard to inventory.
- **Drifting Configurations**: Resources become different versions across devices and tools.
- **Unsafe Synchronization**: Copying directories can overwrite manual configurations, and deletions or failed operations are hard to recover.
- **Credential Risks**: MCP configurations may contain tokens or environment variable literals, making them unsuitable for direct submission.
CC Port compares the remote repository snapshot with each platform's local instance item by item. Uploads, installations, saving copies, and setting installation aliases all generate plans; writes use backups, target locks, result verification, and failure rollbacks.
## Get Started in 5 Steps
1. Install [Git for Windows](https://git-scm.com/download/win) and ensure Git Credential Manager is available.
2. Download `cc-port_0.5.1_windows_x64_setup.exe` from [v0.5.1 Public Beta](https://github.com/Ling-ye/cc-port/releases/tag/v0.5.1).
3. Create an empty private repository on GitHub to serve as your resource repository.
4. Launch CC Port, paste the repository's HTTPS address in "Settings," and complete verification.
5. Scan local resources, and select items to upload to the repository or install to target tools.
The installer includes the desktop program and Python sidecar; regular users don't need to install Python, Node.js, or Rust. See [Quick Start](docs/getting-started.md) for the full process, initial configuration, and uninstallation.
## Security Boundaries
- **Repository Ownership**: CC Port doesn't provide hosted cloud services; resources are stored in your specified Git repository.
- **Credentials Handled by System**: The desktop client uses system credentials through Git Credential Manager, without reading or saving GitHub Tokens.
- **Plans Before Writes**: The desktop client and CLI display targets, actions, and block reasons before writing.
- **No Overwrite of Unmanaged Content**: Ownership markers distinguish CC Port-managed items from manually maintained ones.
- **Recoverable Writes**: Installations, uninstallations, deployments, and restorations use persistent transactions, backups, and failure rollbacks.
- **MCP Key Placeholders**: MCP configurations use `${SECRET_NAME}` placeholders for environment variable literals.
- **Missing Resources Don't Imply Deletion**: A missing resource in the remote repository won't trigger implicit deletion.
For security issues, don't create public issues; use GitHub's private vulnerability reports as per the [Security Policy](SECURITY.md).
## Support Scope
### Resource Types
| Type | Scanning & Registration | Private Repository Sync | Installation to Tools |
| --- | :---: | :---: | :---: |
| Skill | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ |
| MCP Server | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ |
| Rule | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ |
| Prompt | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ |
| Plugin | ✓ | ✓ | ✓ |
### AI Coding Tools
| Tool | Status | Default Writable Resources |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Codex | Stable | Skill |
| Claude Code | Stable | Skill, MCP, Plugin |
| Cursor | Stable | Skill, MCP |
| Windsurf | Experimental | Skill, MCP |
| OpenCode | Experimental | Skill, MCP, Rule, Prompt, Plugin |
| Cline, Gemini CLI | Discovery Only | No complete writable platform presets |
Advanced users can add custom platform paths in `config.toml`. See [Configuration Example](config/config.example.toml) for fields.
## Three Entrances
- **Desktop GUI**: Daily scanning, comparison, uploading, installation, and environment diagnostics.
- **CLI**: Scripting, batch operations, history recovery, and state maintenance.
- **MCP Server**: Enables AI coding tools supporting MCP to call CC Port capabilities.
The three entrances share the same Python core logic. Architecture boundaries and synchronization state machines are detailed in the [Architecture Document](docs/architecture.md).
## Current Limitations
- Public Beta only officially supports Windows 10/11 x64.
- The v0.5.1 installer isn't code-signed; Windows SmartScreen may display "Unknown Publisher."
- Target computers must have Git for Windows installed with Git Credential Manager configured.
- The desktop client won't create, delete, or modify repository visibility.
- No automatic updates; upgrade by downloading new versions from Releases.
- The desktop client focuses on resource management; some historical recovery and maintenance capabilities are only available in CLI/Desktop API.
For installation, login, or synchronization issues, see [Troubleshooting](docs/troubleshooting.md).
