# mcp-wiktionary
Wiktionary MCP — multilingual dictionary via Wikimedia REST + MediaWiki Action API
Part of [Pipeworx](https://pipeworx.io) — an MCP gateway connecting AI agents to 965+ live data sources.
## Tools
| Tool | Description |
|------|-------------|
| `definition` | Parsed definitions grouped by part-of-speech sections. |
| `summary` | Fetch the Wiktionary REST page summary (title, extract, thumbnail) for a word on the specified language subdomain (default en). |
| `search` | Wiktionary title + fulltext search. |
| `etymology` | Etymology section extracted from wikitext. |
| `pronunciations` | IPA / phonetic transcriptions extracted from wikitext. |

Add to your MCP client (Claude Desktop, Cursor, Windsurf, etc.):

## Using with ask_pipeworx
Instead of calling tools directly, you can ask questions in plain English:

The gateway picks the right tool and fills the arguments automatically.
