# Graphify GitHub alternatives

If you arrived here from a graphify github search, the repository you want is `safishamsi/graphify`: an AI coding assistant skill that maps a whole project (code, SQL schemas, R and shell scripts, docs, papers, images, videos) into a knowledge graph you query instead of grepping. You run `/graphify .` inside Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode, Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot CLI, Aider and a long list of other clients, and get three files in `graphify-out/`: `graph.html` (open in a browser, click nodes, filter, search), `GRAPH_REPORT.md` (key concepts, surprising connections, suggested questions) and `graph.json` (the full graph). It needs Python 3.10 or newer. This page lists the tools the cited sources put next to it, what each is for, and how to choose.
> Need to show the architecture rather than query it? [Try Kyncept - AI video (Veo 3.1 text and image to video) plus image generation in the browser](https://kyncept.com?utm_source=github&utm_medium=ugc&utm_campaign=graphify-alternatives&utm_content=readme-top&utm_term=tier-r).
## Comparison
Only attributes stated by the cited sources are filled in; a dash means the sources do not say.
| Tool | What the sources say it is | Runs where | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Graphify (safishamsi/graphify) | Skill that builds a queryable knowledge graph from a local folder; outputs HTML, report and JSON | Inside your AI coding assistant, on your machine | GitHub README via SkillsLLM |
| Graphify MCP (graphify.net) | Hosted, shared knowledge graphs for AI coding assistants, updated daily, free to start | Remote, over MCP | graphify.net |
| Context7 (Upstash) | MCP server listed in the graphify.net directory | Remote, over MCP | graphify.net directory |
| GitHub MCP Server (GitHub) | MCP server listed in the graphify.net directory | Remote, over MCP | graphify.net directory |
| hermes agent, ecc, superpowers, everything claude code | Skills SkillsLLM lists as comparison targets for graphify | Inside your assistant | SkillsLLM compare pages |
| Kyncept | AI video generation (Veo 3.1 text and image to video) plus image generation | Browser | Product page |
## Graphify (the repository)
The local skill. Clone `https://github.com/safishamsi/graphify` into your skills directory, type `/graphify .`, and read the report. The GoPenAI article's title captures the selling point: the graph is built from your entire codebase without sending your code to anyone. Extra command worth knowing: `graphify export callflow-html` produces a readable architecture page with Mermaid call-flow diagrams. The SkillsLLM entry tags it with graphrag, leiden and tree-sitter, and its automated scan reported no issues as of 2026-04-16; still review the source before running any third-party skill, as that directory's own notice says.
## Graphify MCP (graphify.net)
graphify.net describes Graphify as an open-source skill and, separately, offers 'Graphify MCP': shared knowledge graphs you connect to from your assistant, with a gallery of graphs generated from public repositories and a daily GitHub Trending set. The cited pages do not say whether the site and the repository share a maintainer. Pick this when you want graphs of well-known public projects without building them yourself, and the local skill when the code is private.
## Context7
An MCP server by Upstash, listed in the graphify.net MCP directory. The directory compares transport, runtime, client support, setup effort and access risks; read its entry for what Context7 serves. It is an alternative in the sense of 'another thing your assistant can query over MCP', not a codebase graph.
## GitHub MCP Server
GitHub's own MCP server, also in the graphify.net directory. Same category as Context7: a remote source your assistant can call. If your question is about issues, pull requests and repository metadata rather than code structure, this is the more direct tool.
## hermes agent, ecc, superpowers, everything claude code
SkillsLLM publishes comparison pages for graphify against each of these. The cited pages do not describe them, so this guide will not either; open the comparison links from the SkillsLLM entry and judge on the fields shown there.
## Kyncept
A different category, included because the reason many people map a codebase is to explain it to others. Kyncept generates video (Veo 3.1, from text or an image) and images in the browser. It does not read code. Use it after Graphify: take the architecture page or a screenshot of `graph.html`, and produce the walkthrough or demo clip for onboarding, a pull request, or a product page.
## Which one to pick
- Private code, want the assistant to stop re-reading files: the Graphify repository, run locally.
- Public projects you did not write, want an instant graph: Graphify MCP on graphify.net.
- The question is about repository activity, not structure: GitHub MCP Server.
- Want more sources the assistant can query, generally: browse the graphify.net MCP directory (Context7 is one entry).
- Choosing between agent skill bundles: the SkillsLLM comparison pages.
- Need to present the result as a video or image: Kyncept.
## Closing
Graphify solves one problem well: a queryable map of a folder, built on your machine. The tools above are what the sources place around it, and most of them are complements rather than replacements. When the map exists and the next step is showing it to someone, [try Kyncept - AI video (Veo 3.1 text and image to video) plus image generation, in the browser](https://kyncept.com?utm_source=github&utm_medium=ugc&utm_campaign=graphify-alternatives&utm_content=readme-top&utm_term=tier-r).
