[](https://adamenrem-jpg.github.io/Roblox-Live-Bridge-MCP/) # 🌐 NexusForge Client Bridge **A self-hosted, real-time automation bridge that connects AI reasoning engines to live application runtimes — starting with the Roblox client ecosystem.** NexusForge Client Bridge is an open, extensible relay layer built for developers, researchers, and tinkerers who want their AI companions to *see* and *interact* with a running client session in real time. Unlike cloud-only solutions that lock you into opaque infrastructure, NexusForge runs on your own machine, stores its state in a lightweight SQLite ledger, and ships as a Docker-ready bundle for one-command deployment. Inspired by the growing demand for localized AI inspection tools, NexusForge takes the concept several steps further: modular adapter interfaces, session replay, permissioned action whitelisting, and a multilingual operator console that feels less like a command line and more like a cockpit. --- ## 📖 Table of Contents - [Vision & Philosophy](#-vision--philosophy) - [What NexusForge Actually Does](#-what-nexusforge-actually-does) - [Feature Highlights](#-feature-highlights) - [Architecture Overview](#-architecture-overview) - [Screenshots & Interface Walkthrough](#-screenshots--interface-walkthrough) - [Getting Up and Running](#-getting-up-and-running) - [Configuration Reference](#-configuration-reference) - [Adapter System](#-adapter-system) - [The SQLite Ledger](#-the-sqlite-ledger) - [Security Model](#-security-model) - [Multilingual Support](#-multilingual-support) - [Responsive Operator Console](#-responsive-operator-console) - [Roadmap](#-roadmap) - [Use Cases & Real-World Scenarios](#-use-cases--real-world-scenarios) - [Troubleshooting](#-troubleshooting) - [FAQ](#-faq) - [Contributing](#-contributing) - [License](#-license) - [Disclaimer](#-disclaimer) - [Support & Community](#-support--community) --- ## 🌱 Vision & Philosophy Most AI tooling today assumes the model lives in the cloud and the world it reasons about lives in a browser tab. NexusForge flips that assumption. It imagines a world where the AI is *local*, the data stays *local*, and the only thing crossing the wire is a narrow, permissioned intent stream between your AI client and the target runtime. Think of it as a **bridge**, not a tunnel. A bridge has guardrails, weight limits, and inspection points. NexusForge applies the same discipline to AI-driven interaction: every action passes through a whitelist, every observation gets logged, and every session can be replayed from the ledger. The repository you're holding in your hands right now is the *bridge head* — the relay, the console, the ledger. Adapters plug into it like modular rooms in a house. The first adapter targets Roblox client runtimes, but the architecture is deliberately agnostic. --- ## 🔍 What NexusForge Actually Does At its core, NexusForge answers a single question: **"How can an AI observe and act inside a live application without the operator losing control?"** It does this through four primitives: 1. **Observation** — The bridge streams structured snapshots (state, entity positions, UI tree, chat buffer) from the target runtime to the AI client at a configurable cadence. 2. **Intent** — The AI client emits high-level intents ("move forward", "inspect nearby object", "summarize chat") rather than raw inputs. 3. **Authorization** — Each intent is checked against a policy file that the operator controls. Unpermitted intents are rejected and logged. 4. **Replay** — Every observation and intent is stored in the SQLite ledger with timestamps, giving you a full session transcript you can audit, replay, or diff. This four-step loop is what separates NexusForge from fire-and-forget automation scripts. It's less "run this macro" and more "let the AI think, but only within the walls you drew." --- ## ✨ Feature Highlights - 🎛️ **Modular Adapter System** — Plug in a new target runtime by implementing a single interface. Roblox adapter ships in-tree; community adapters are welcome. - 🗄️ **SQLite Session Ledger** — Every observation and intent lands in a portable `.db` file. Zero external database dependencies, zero cloud contract. - 🐳 **Docker-Ready Deployment** — A single compose file brings up the bridge, the console, and the ledger volume. - 🌍 **Multilingual Operator Console** — Interface strings ship in English, Spanish, Japanese, German, and Portuguese out of the box, with a JSON-based locale loader for adding more. - 📱 **Responsive Operator UI** — The console adapts from a 4K workstation to a tablet in a technician's hand. No separate mobile app required. - 🛡️ **Intent Whitelisting** — Policies are declarative. A YAML file lists which intents are permitted, with rate limits per intent. - 🕰️ **Session Replay & Diffing** — Reconstruct any past session from the ledger and compare two sessions side by side. - 🔐 **Local-First by Design** — No outbound telemetry. No analytics. The bridge only talks to endpoints you configure. - 🧩 **Pluggable AI Backends** — Supports OpenAI-compatible APIs, local llama.cpp servers, and custom HTTP endpoints via a thin adapter. - 🎨 **Theming Support** — Console ships with a dark "cockpit" theme and a light "daylight" theme; users can drop in custom CSS. - 📊 **Live Metrics Panel** — Latency, intent acceptance rate, and observation throughput rendered in real time. - 🔁 **Hot Reload for Policies** — Change your whitelist without restarting the bridge. - 🧠 **Intent History Autocomplete** — The console suggests recently used intents as you type. - 📦 **Zero-Vendor Lock-In** — MIT-licensed, self-hostable, and portable across Linux, macOS, and Windows via Docker. --- ## 🏗️ Architecture Overview NexusForge is split into three cooperating processes, each with a narrow responsibility: **1. The Relay Core** — A WebSocket server that speaks a small, versioned protocol. It receives observations from adapters and forwards intents from AI clients. It holds no business logic beyond routing and policy enforcement. **2. The Ledger Writer** — A single-writer SQLite process that serializes all persistence. Observations and intents are appended to tables, and periodic snapshots are compacted into indexed summary rows for fast replay. **3. The Operator Console** — A responsive single-page web UI served by the relay. It shows the live stream, lets you edit policies, browse the ledger, and step through session replays. Adapters sit *outside* the core and connect over the same protocol the AI clients use. This means an adapter is indistinguishable from an AI client from the core's perspective — a deliberate choice that keeps the trust boundary in exactly one place. A typical request flow looks like this: 1. Adapter observes the runtime state and pushes an observation to the relay. 2. Relay checks the observation against the schema and appends it to the ledger. 3. Relay fans the observation out to all subscribed AI clients. 4. An AI client emits an intent back to the relay. 5. Relay checks the intent against the active policy file. 6. If permitted, the intent is forwarded to the adapter, which translates it into runtime-specific actions. 7. The result flows back to the AI client and is written to the ledger. Every arrow in that diagram is logged. Nothing is invisible. --- ## 🖼️ Screenshots & Interface Walkthrough *(Visuals are described in prose below; the live console renders them dynamically.)* **The Cockpit View** — A dark, three-panel layout. Left panel is the observation stream, color-coded by entity type. Center panel is the intent composer with autocomplete. Right panel is a live metrics strip showing latency, acceptance rate, and throughput. **The Ledger Browser** — A timeline scrubber across the top, a diff view in the middle, and a JSON inspector at the bottom. Click any row to jump the scrubber to that moment. **The Policy Editor** — A syntax-highlighted YAML editor with a live validation badge. Invalid policies turn the badge red and refuse to hot-reload until fixed. **The Adapter Manager** — A card grid, one card per connected adapter, showing connection state, last heartbeat, and average observation size. --- ## 🚀 Getting Up and Running NexusForge is designed to be brought up in an afternoon, not a weekend. **Path A — Containerized Bring-Up (recommended)** 1. Ensure a recent Docker engine and compose plugin are present on your host. 2. Copy the sample environment file to your working directory and adjust the values you care about. 3. Launch the compose stack. On first boot, the ledger is created automatically and a default admin token is printed to the console log. 4. Open the operator console at the port you configured and paste the admin token. **Path B — Bare-Metal Bring-Up** 1. Install a current Python runtime (3.11 or newer) and the SQLite library shipped with it. 2. Create a dedicated virtual environment for the bridge. 3. Install the project dependencies from the bundled requirements manifest. 4. Invoke the bridge entry point with your chosen config file. 5. Open the console and authenticate with the token from the startup log. **Path C — Development Bring-Up** 1. Create the virtual environment as above. 2. Install the project in editable mode along with the development extras. 3. Run the test suite to confirm your environment is healthy. 4. Start the bridge with auto-reload enabled for policy files and adapter modules. In all three paths, the first thing you'll see is an empty observation stream. Populate it by connecting an adapter — see the next section. --- ## ⚙️ Configuration Reference NexusForge reads a single top-level configuration file plus optional overrides from environment variables. Key sections: - **`relay`** — Bind address, port, TLS settings, and maximum concurrent clients. - **`ledger`** — Path to the SQLite file, compaction interval, and retention window. - **`policy`** — Path to the active policy YAML, hot-reload flag, and default action for unmatched intents. - **`console`** — Theme, locale, and whether to expose the metrics panel. - **`adapters`** — A list of adapter entry points, each with its own sub-config. - **`ai_backends`** — A list of AI endpoints the bridge can forward observations to. Every key has a sensible default. You can start with an empty config and grow it as your needs evolve. --- ## 🔌 Adapter System An adapter is a small program that speaks the NexusForge protocol and knows how to translate between a specific runtime and the abstract observation/intent vocabulary. **Writing your own adapter** means implementing four callbacks: - `on_handshake` — Introduce yourself, declare your capabilities. - `observe` — Return a structured snapshot of the current runtime state. - `act` — Receive an intent and perform the corresponding action. - `on_shutdown` — Clean up gracefully. The bundled Roblox adapter demonstrates all four callbacks and is the recommended starting point for anyone building a new one. Adapters can be written in any language that can speak WebSocket and JSON. The bridge has no opinion about your stack — it only cares about the protocol. --- ## 🗄️ The SQLite Ledger The ledger is the memory of the bridge. It stores three tables: - **`observations`** — Timestamped snapshots from adapters. - **`intents`** — Timestamped intents from AI clients, with their policy verdict. - **`sessions`** — Session boundaries, so replay knows where one run ends and the next begins. Because SQLite is a single file, the ledger is trivially portable. Copy it to another machine and the entire history comes with you. Compact it periodically to keep query times snappy. For teams, the ledger can be mounted on a shared volume so multiple operators see the same history. Just be aware that SQLite's single-writer model means writes serialize — fine for most workloads, worth planning around for very high throughput. --- ## 🛡️ Security Model NexusForge assumes a hostile-by-default environment and layers defenses accordingly: - **Token Authentication** — Every client and adapter presents a bearer token. Tokens are scoped to a role: admin, operator, or adapter. - **Intent Whitelisting** — Only intents listed in the policy file are forwarded. Everything else is rejected and logged. - **Rate Limiting** — Per-intent rate limits prevent runaway loops. - **Schema Validation** — Observations must conform to a declared schema. Malformed payloads are dropped with a diagnostic. - **No Outbound Calls by Default** — The bridge never contacts an external endpoint unless you explicitly configure one. - **Local Storage Only** — The ledger lives on your disk. Backups are your responsibility, and that's the point. This model is not a substitute for network-level hardening. Run the bridge on a private network, use TLS if you expose it, and treat tokens like passwords. --- ## 🌍 Multilingual Support The operator console ships with locale files for English, Spanish, Japanese, German, and Portuguese. Adding a new locale means dropping a JSON file into the locales directory and refreshing the console — no rebuild required. Locale files are flat key-value maps. Missing keys fall back to English, so a partial translation is still useful. Right-to-left languages are supported via a layout flag in the locale file. --- ## 📱 Responsive Operator Console The console uses a fluid grid that collapses gracefully from a multi-column desktop layout to a stacked single-column view on tablets and phones. Touch targets are sized for fingers, and the live stream pauses automatically when the tab loses focus to save bandwidth. A "compact mode" reduces the stream to a single line per observation, useful on small screens or during long sessions. --- ## 🗺️ Roadmap - **Q1 2026** — Ledger search API and saved queries. - **Q2 2026** — Adapter marketplace with signed manifests. - **Q3 2026** — Multi-bridge federation for distributed setups. - **Q4 2026** — Native mobile companion app for the console. - **Rolling** — More locales, more themes, more adapters. Roadmap items are aspirational. Priorities shift with community feedback. --- ## 🎯 Use Cases & Real-World Scenarios - **AI-Assisted Playtesting** — Let an AI observe a session and flag anomalies, while a human keeps the final say on any action. - **Research on Human-AI Collaboration** — Collect rich session data with the ledger and analyze decision patterns offline. - **Automation with Guardrails** — Replace brittle scripts with a policy-bounded intent loop that fails safely. - **Teaching and Demos** — Use session replay to walk students through an AI's reasoning step by step. - **Accessibility Prototyping** — Explore how an AI can describe a runtime state to a user who cannot see it directly. --- ## 🧰 Troubleshooting - **Console shows "no adapters connected"** — Verify the adapter's handshake token matches the bridge config and that the adapter can reach the relay's port. - **Intents are all rejected** — Check the policy file. The default action for unmatched intents is *deny*. Add the intent you want to allow. - **Ledger queries are slow** — Run a compaction. Long observation tables accumulate quickly. - **Hot reload isn't picking up changes** — Ensure the policy file path is absolute and the file is valid YAML. - **High latency on observations** — Lower the observation cadence in the adapter config, or enable compact mode in the console. Diagnostic logs are written to the standard output of the relay process. Increase verbosity in the config if you need more detail. --- ## ❓ FAQ **Is NexusForge tied to a specific game or platform?** No. The bundled adapter targets the Roblox client ecosystem, but the core is runtime-agnostic. Write an adapter and the bridge will happily relay for any live runtime. **Does it require an internet connection?** Only if your AI backend lives in the cloud. With a local backend, NexusForge runs entirely offline. **Can I run multiple bridges?** Yes. Each bridge is independent. Federation is on the roadmap for teams that want a unified view. **Where does my data go?** Into the SQLite ledger on your disk. Nowhere else, unless you configure an AI backend that leaves the machine. **What happens if my policy is too restrictive?** Nothing breaks — intents just get rejected and logged. Loosen the policy when you're ready. **Is there a hosted option?** Not officially. NexusForge is self-hosted by design. You can deploy it on any VPS or homelab. --- ## 🤝 Contributing Contributions of every size are welcome — from typo fixes to new adapters. Before opening a pull request: 1.
